Hi to all the Laidlers. Sorry I didn't say hello to you all today at the Church but needed to get back to work. It was a lovely service and I'm sure Jogger would have been very proud of all his family. I hope Betty is not too lonely now. Look forward to catching up at some time. Thinking of you both, Terry & Johnny, and may the Tigers help ease the pain. Xxx

Dearest TJ: So wanted to be with you all today but Max got himself into a bit of a medical mess……but he did get up on time to be ready for Jack……as he always did for your father…. Hope you, family and dear Betty are fine … or if not fine, at least hanging on in there, as indeed is John xxxx

I didn't know Jack, but I can tell you of one wonderful legacy he has left us in his son Terry, whom I have had the privilege of knowing for over 30 years. Every one of us leaves behind so much of ourselves and I have glimpsed just one of those treasures. How many more must he have left behind which will be spoken of and remembered by the many others in his life. Vale Jack, thank you for the gift you gave me in Terry's friendship.

Very sorry to hear of the passing of Jack, Terrence Laidler. I remember Jack from my time as the Civil Engineering Contracts Officer with the Ministry of Housing. We belonged to that auspicious group who liked to partake of a refreshing ale at the Francis. On behalf of my mother Rita Hegarty who passed in 2010 and myself please give my best wishes to Betty. Mum and Betty were old basketball mates, Betty from Sth Melbourne and mum from Nth Fitzroy. Together they used to do the annual pilgrimage to the Catholic Old Girls Basketball dinner, when you lived in Reservoir. Apart from the obvious, I hope she is keeping in good health.
You can console yourself by knowing that Jack is now surrounded by extraordinary love and enlightenment and is very happy.

I had the pleasure of knowing Jack, Betty and the boys for many years. From the 'occasional ale' to some great stories, Jack was there to give advice, and supervision, especially with the 'House out the Back'. I am not too sure how many trips Jack made to buy more nails, but we used each and every one of them. RIP Jack, it has been a pleasure to have known you and to have been a part of growing up with your great sons and your wonderful lady, Betty.

My deepest sympathies, Terry, and to your family.
We all know that our parents will leave us at sometime, and try to prepare ourselves, yet no matter how long they live and how prepared we think we are, there is always that painful sense of loss.
It is important that we hang on to what they left behind - the values, the understanding and the inspiration they gave us, and the memories of the love and wonderful time they shared with us.
