Funeral Details

Tuesday 20th February 2018 at

MB left me at 2am last Tuesday, 13 February 2018 while travelling by ambulance to the Alfred Hospital.

According to his written wishes there will be no formal funeral and I will take him to Lake Mungo where we can be, as he stated, alone together.

There will be a Celebration of his Life later for his friends and those who loved him, and we will post details here when they are available.

He was and remains a unique man, a beautiful man and a highly talented gentle and loving man with whom I have shared more than half my life-34 years.

My oldest chum (1958) - the hole in my heart is only bettered my the loss of my dearly loved wife Elizabeth recently. We laughed, worked and carousels together. His art is on my wall but his beauty will live in my heart forever.

So sad to read this post Jane. We'll always have the memory of that Xmas at Green St when it bucketed down and Paul Cumming entertained us all afternoon with song, Max was in his element! (sadly Paul has also passed :( ) I hope you take comfort in the fact that you shared the best years of your lives together and his memory will always live on in you and those who loved him. Take good care of yourself. xxoo

Jane: Living , as we did, in the sticks, access to a comprehensive source of music was limited. My mother would purchase records and books from WRC and Book Clubs. This was one album I remember from her collection. Lovely to think that your beloved MB created that cover!

Drinking Red Wine with 'Maxie boy' after a day of making Art in the Outback was one of life's great moments. We swapped stories, artworks and bullshit. We lunched at the Savage Club and shared our stories. Max had talent and verve. We will miss that cheeky smile buried beneath that distinctive charcoal beard. The man who designed the $10 note and many outstanding World Record Covers has left his mark. RIP Maxie boy.
